What's in a Name?

The Advertising Standards Authority has recently adjudicated a case of misleading advertising by a Funeral Director claiming to have served the community for many years, when in fact they were owned by another company but still traded under the original name. Particular mention was made in the adjudication of the use of the original family name and the implication that the company was still owned by the original family, and the lack of a “prominent statement making clear that the business was owned [by someone else]”, and that these were likely to mislead. Kingfisher Independent Funeral Services is a locally-owned, completely independent business which has no need to mislead in any advertising.
